Cultivation

Philodendron xanadu is bred in the U.S. as mutant of Philodendron selloum  and become almost more popular than this. You can recognize this Araceae at its long petioles and the green leaves are medium-sized, notched and heavily veined. It is a evergreen herbaceous plant that grows very compact and can reach up to about 1.20 m. It doesn´t climb as its relatives and does not take such dimensions as Philodendron . Like all Philodendron this species is also very easy to maintain. Does not tolerate direct midday sun. Morning or evening sun and partial shade or light shade is ideal. The soil should be kept constantly moist but not wet.

Philodendron xanadu do very well as a pot plant.

The flowers are very rare. They are reddish-brown and have the typical shape of the piston for aroids.

All plant parts evoke strong discomfort after eating, contact with the sap can cause skin irritation.

Propagation: Leaf cuttings, which are established in advance for rooting in a glass of water.
