Cultivation

The approximately 1 m tall Hymenocallis litteralis is evergreen. The white flowers are fragrant.

Is often planted for flower borders or on the shore edges of ponds.

It is fast growing. The plant blooms nearly year round. The shoot develops from the bulp. The flowering stem is developed from the bulp, and on the top develops successively a lot of flowers from this one stem, so that one plant blooms over a long period of time. Each single flower blooms only one day.

Prefers a sunny or partially shaded location, which should not dry out. Tolerates boggy conditions, sandy or clay soil.

Propagation: separation of the bulbs of the plant.
